The first consultation for the proposed North Falls offshore wind farm in the southern North Sea off east England has two weeks left to run before it closes on Friday 10 December.
The team from 50:50 joint developers SSE Renewables and RWE Renewables are encouraging people from North Essex and surrounding areas to provide feedback on early proposals for the project.
North Falls is being developed across a total area of 150km square located more than 20km off the UK coast.
It is an extension to the existing 504MW Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm (pictured).
The consultation opened in October and has been running for five weeks, with more than 50 responses received to date.
The responses offer opinions and insights into the consultation itself, offshore wind technology and on specifics of the project including possible landfall locations between Clacton and Frinton-by-the-Sea, construction methods and how the local environment will be taken into account.
North Falls project manager Martin Whyte said: “Although the location of the onshore grid connection is not yet known, it is likely to be in North Essex and that is why we are focusing this first consultation in that area, encouraging nearby communities to give us the benefit of their local knowledge upfront.
“While there will be further opportunities for local people to offer their views in future detailed consultations and as part of the formal consenting process, by seeking early inputs we can identify potential concerns or issues at an immature stage of development.”
