Lead contractor Van Oord has installed last of 150 foundations at Northland’s 600MW Gemini offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.
The company tackled the monopiles and transition pieces in a “record time” of 3.5 months using in-house installation vessel Aeolus (pictured) and Swire Blue Ocean jack-up Pacific Osprey.
The final unit went in on 17 October one more earlier than scheduled, in a campaign that kicked off on 1 July.
Both vessels will return to the project in February to begin installation of 150 Siemens 4MW turbines.
Hardware will be picked up from the Danish port of Esbjerg for the journey to the North Sea project.
