Van Oord said the final wind turbine has been installed at the at the 600MW Gemini offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea.
The EPC contractor’s installation vessel Aeolus erected the last turbine yesterday, meaning all 150 of the project’s 4MW Siemens turbines are now in place, it said.
Siemens assisted Van Oord with the turbine installation process and both companies are shareholders in the project, alongside Northland and Dutch municipal utility HVC.
First power was delivered in February, with full commissioning scheduled for spring 2017.
“We proudly reflect upon successful completion of a large and complex project that is contributing to the development and competitiveness of the offshore industry,” Van Oord’s Gussinklo Ohmann said, adding the turbine installation was “seamless”.
Gemini is expected to supply energy to around 1.5 million people in the Netherlands.
