Marine Coordination Services (MCS) has been awarded a contract by Van Oord to coordinate their marine transportation and installation activities for the 759MW Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm off the Netherlands.
Under the contract, MCS will provide remote marine coordination services from their new marine coordination centre in Terschelling.
As a balance of plant contractor for Hollandse Kust Noord, Van Oord is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the foundations, inter array cables and transportation of the wind turbines.
Van Oord is deploying multiple of its offshore installation vessels on this project.
Services managed remotely MCS will remotely monitor and coordinate all sea traffic of Van Oord’s vessels, supporting vessels, and crew transfers between ports and the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore construction site and in the construction site.
The activities will take place in two phases. Phase 1 starts in August 2022 and phase 2 in October 2022 and will run till September 2023.
MCS managing owner Jens Doeksen said: “We are very excited to team up with Van Oord on this truly innovative renewable energy project.
“We previously worked together on the Norther Offshore Wind Farm and are looking forward to once again be supporting Van Oord in realising a safe and time-and cost-efficient project execution.
“From our new coordination centre we can deliver even more cost-efficient services to offshore projects and as such do our part in contributing to the green energy transition.”
Van Oord project director for the Hollandse Kust Noord project Roeland Ris added: “We are looking forward to work together with MCS on the Hollandse Kust Noord project.
“Marine Coordination is a vital part of delivering the project in time and in a safemanner.
“With a brand-new marine coordination centre in Terschelling, MCS will play an important role in delivering the offshore scope of the project.”
