Van Oord contracted Eager One to provide a new type of tool to help with the installation of monopile foundations at offshore wind farms.
A factory acceptance test for the new anode cage installation aid was successfully completed in the second week of January.
Van Oord contracted Eager One to provide a new tool for monopile installations from a floating vessel, Van Oord’s Svanen, as opposed to a jack-up vessel.
The anode cage has to be installed over the monopile, while preventing collision between these two components, using a service crane with limited capacity, from the floating vessel.
The tool will now be prepared for transport to the onshore harbour for commissioning and training of the Van Oord operational crew.
Using the new tool the anode cage is lowered to the installation position, while being monitored by cameras, supported by lighting for visual confirmation of the anode cage’s position.
In addition, the exact position can be determined by a pay-out measuring system in the winches.
