Van Oord has joined the German Wind Energy Offshore Association as the contractor looks to support offshore wind expansion in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea.
The BWO said Van Oord brings more than 25 years of experience in offshore wind farm construction across Europe, Asia and the US and employs around 6000 people.
Van Oord added that it has invested more than €1 billion in the expansion and modernisation of its fleet in recent years to strengthen its position across the offshore wind value chain.
“The expansion of offshore wind energy requires clear political framework conditions as well as specialised maritime infrastructure,” said Fritz Wiedemann, managing director of van Oord Offshore Wind Germany.
“Van Oord is convinced of the long-term growth of offshore wind energy, which is indispensable for a sustainable future.
“With our fleet of ships, we are creating the basis for the efficient implementation of offshore wind farms in the German North Sea and Baltic Sea.
“As a member of the BWO, we bring our perspective to the industry and are committed to stable expansion paths and reliable investment conditions.”
“I am very pleased to welcome van Oord to the BWO,” said Stefan Thimm, managing director of the BWO.
“Offshore wind farms cannot be built or maintained without specialised vessels – this is exactly where van Oord’s central expertise lies.”
