Dutch company SMST has installed its M series telescopic access bridge on Offshore Windforce’s multi-purpose vessel Abis Duisburg for support during grouting operations on the 350MW Wikinger offshore wind farm.
Offshore Windforce personnel are now able to walk safely from the vessel to the project’s foundations and have already made more than 200 such transfers, SMST said.
Offshore Windforce, a joint venture between Boskalis and Volker Stevin, has rented the motion-compensating bridge during the installation of 70 foundations and six offshore substation piles at the Wikinger project in German Baltic Sea.
SMST said the bridge is suitable for a variety of vessels and operational situations and is remotely controlled by the vessel’s crew.
Five M series bridges are being built, with two already contracted for rental use, the company said.
The bridges are also available to be bought, it added.
