German servicing outfit Wind Multiplikator has signed a long-term charter with Norwind Offshore to deploy a Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) for the 400MW Global Tech 1 wind farm in the German North Sea.
The Norwind Maestro will enter service in early 2026, with a sister vessel supporting the project from late 2025.
Both vessels will operate out of Emden, Wind Multiplikator’s home port and logistics hub, enabling faster response times and enhanced service coordination.
The deal follows Wind Multiplikator’s award of the full-service and maintenance contract for Global Tech 1, covering 80 AREVA M5000 turbines.
“Our goal is safe, reliable, and sustainable operation while simultaneously optimizing operating costs at Global Tech I,” said Wind Multiplikator managing director Michael Munder-Oschimek.
“These state-of-the-art vessels will enable us to implement our full-service contract even more efficiently and further increase the long-term performance and operational reliability of the turbines.”
The VARD 4 19 series CSOVs feature height-adjustable gangways, boat docks, and low-emission designs suited to long-distance offshore O&M.
Norwind Offshore chief executive Svein Leon Aure said: “We are particularly pleased that the Norwind Maestro will begin long-term deployment at Global Tech I at the beginning of next year.”
Semco Maritime senior vice president for renewables Thomas Thomsen added: “The deployment of the CSOV will significantly increase reliability and availability while providing a safe and stable platform for technicians.”
