EirGrid has launched its Powering Up Offshore – South Coast Tonn Nua Substation Package for offshore wind infrastructure in Ireland at the WindEurope conference in Madrid.
The package covers design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of offshore substations and associated HV equipment, EirGrid said.
It also includes onshore compensation compound works and related engineering scope, the company added.
The procurement marks a key step towards delivering Ireland’s offshore wind targets.
“It is estimated that the substation package procurements being launched today will be valued in excess of hundreds of millions of euros, demonstrating the progress being made to deliver offshore renewables at scale, a critical step towards a cleaner energy future,” said Cathal Marley, chief executive of EirGrid (pictured).
