Acciona now has 536MW of renewables capacity operating in the South American country, including the 45MW Punta Palmeras wind farm operational since 2014 and the 246MW El Romero photovoltaic plant.
Construction is also underway at the 84MW Tolpan wind farm in La Araucania and the 64MW Usya solar plant in Antofagasta.
Acciona director general of energy for South America Jose Ignacio Escobar said: “In the last three years, we have undertaken an ambitious capital expenditure program of around $600m, which will take us to an installed capacity of 684MW in the country in 2020.
“Our commitment to continue investing in Chile remains intact. Acciona is the main operator in exclusively renewable energies in the country and we will continue with our development plan to support the decarbonisation process that our energy matrix is taking on.”
