Alliant Energy’s Iowa utility Interstate Power and Light Company is moving forward with its planned 500MW extension to the 200MW Whispering Willow wind farm.
It is currently working with landowners in Franklin County near the existing development, as well as exploring opportunities to develop in other areas of the state.
Construction could start as soon as next year, the company said.
The first 250MW would come online in 2019 and the rest in 2020, Alliant said.
The company will hold an ‘open house’ regarding the project on Thursday 17 November from 3:30pm to 6pm at the Franklin County Convention Center located at 1008 Central Avenue W in Hampton, Iowa.
