Developer EVN Naturkraft has formally inaugurated the Sommerein wind farm in Lower Austria.
The 34.5MW project’s six Vestas V112 and four V126 turbines were fully commissioned in July and are expected to generate enough electricity to supply some 28,000 households.

Construction started last autumn and was hampered by the discovery of an ancient burial site and by challenging soil conditions, EVN has said.
According to EVN executive Franz Mittermayer the project was implemented without any objection by local residents.
