Axpo and Pilkington Automotive Finland Oy have signed a long-term wind energy power purchase agreement.
The agreements will see Axpo supply Pilkington Automotive Finland’s two manufacturing plants with an annual total of 35GWh of wind-generated electricity from the 30MW Storbacken wind farm, located near the city of Voyri in Finland, for eight years.
Axpo Sverige AB Originator David Eickhoff said: “This PPA was developed during a time when signing long-term agreements was becoming increasingly difficult. It demonstrates that, even in such a challenging environment, we can successfully help our clients reach their sustainability targets by leveraging Axpo’s expertise and knowledge of the market.”
Pilkington Automotive Finland Oy Managing Director Jussi Parkkali said: “We are delighted to sign this long-term PPA with our partner Axpo Nordic to secure renewable electricity for our facilities in Finland. Securing fixed prices for zero-carbon electricity, especially during a time of such volatility, will support our customers and be a huge step towards our sustainability objectives.”
