German renewables developer BayWa RE has started generating electricity at the 48MW San Lupo wind farm in the Campania region of Italy.
San Lupo comprises 16 Vestas V117 3MW turbines, with project finance having been provided by Nord LB, the company said.
It will also continue to operate and maintain the wind farm.
BayWa RE Italia managing director Alessandra Toschi said: “The realisation of this wind park, after more than 10 years of development and hard work, highlights the depth of global expertise within BayWa RE that can be called upon to successfully deliver complex projects.
“For San Lupo, this also included participating in the network construction needed to connect the plant to the national grid.
“Moreover, we’re pleased to have further cemented existing strong partnerships on this project with Nord LB for finance, and with Vestas for supply and ongoing maintenance of their top-of-the-range wind turbines.
“We continue to look for additional projects to acquire and develop in Italy so we can continue our excellent track record.”
