Boralex has secured a Contract for Difference for the consented Sallachy Wind Farm in Scotland in the UK’s Allocation Round 7.
The company said the project aligns with Scotland’s ambition to double onshore wind capacity by 2030 alongside other schemes in its portfolio.
Boralex added that the CfD will enable a Final Investment Decision with the aim of bringing the 44MW project online in 2028.
The company stated that Sallachy is located near Lairg in Sutherland.
Boralex said the wind farm will deliver socio-economic benefits through local supply chain use and a community benefit fund worth £5000 per megawatt of installed capacity.
Esbjörn Wilmar, vice president, United Kingdom (pictured) said: “We welcome the strong message and commitment the United Kingdom Government has shown to both energy security and delivering the 2030 renewable energy targets.”
Wilmar added: “This provides a stable platform for our continued investment and reflects the strength of our UK project portfolio and our UK team.”
Wilmar stated: “Securing a CfD will allow us to take the Final Investment Decision for Sallachy, with the aim of bringing the project online in the course of 2028.”
Boralex said the progress of Sallachy supports its UK growth ambitions under its 2030 Strategy and noted it holds a portfolio of more than 700MW across Scotland, England and Wales.
