Blade inspections are taking place on Enercon E-82 turbines in Japan after a blade loss at a project in the country.
The German OEM confirmed to reNEWS that the incident hit an E-82 “operated and serviced by our local partner”.
The spokesperson was responding to questions following reports that a blade loss in the Akita area is being investigated by police in connection with the unexplained death of a man.
“Our partners are managing the situation and are in close contact with local authorities,” said the Enercon spokesperson.
“Other wind farms with turbines of the same type are currently being checked (meaning that regularly scheduled blade inspections are brought forward).
“We take the incident seriously and support our partners and the authorities in the investigation of the cause.”
