Local officials have given the go ahead for NextEra Energy Resources’ 150MW Brady 2 wind project in North Dakota, where GE turbines will be the star of the show.
The Hettinger County Planning and Zoning Board and the County Commission voted unanimously to approve a conditional-use permit, county auditor Jeri Schmidt told reNEWS.
The Brady 2 scheme is proposed just south of NextEra’s 150MW Brady development in Stark County.
The state Public Service Commission is considering site applications for the pair. Basin Electric Power Cooperative will buy the output under 30-year power purchase agreements.
NextEra proposes to install 174 GE turbines in total – a mix of 1.715MW, 1.79MW and 2.1MW machines with 80m hub heights. The estimated cost of Brady 2 is $243m.
The wind farms will share a 19-mile, 230kV overhead transmission line that connects to the Basin transmission system.
