Vestas has secured turbine orders totalling 225MW for four wind farms under development by Central Puerto in Argentina.
The Danish manufacturer will supply 21 V136-4.2MW machines to the La Genoveva 1 project, 11 V126 units with individual output of 3.8MW to the La Genoveva 2 facility and four of the latter model to the La Castellana plant. All three wind farms are in Buenos Aires province.
The Achiras 2 project in Cordoba province will receive 21 3.8MW V136 turbines.
All the deals also include five-year active output management 5000 service agreements.
Delivery for the first project is expected in the second quarter of 2019, and delivery for the last project scheduled for the second quarter 2020.
The 57 turbines will be manufactured at the company’s new assembly facility, which will soon be inaugurated in Campana in Buenos Aires province.
Towers for the projects will also be produced locally in partnership with Argentinian suppliers.
Vestas south cone sales director Andres Gismondi said: “This order underlines how Argentina’s growing wind energy market and Vestas’ footprint in the country have evolved in parallel. With our new production facility and more than 1.3GW installed capacity or under construction, Vestas’ commitment to Argentina remains strong.”
