Engie Green has acquired a portfolio of under development wind farms in France with a combined capacity of almost 500MW through the purchase of all the shares in Sameole.
The Sameole projects are spread across seven regions of the country, mainly in the north-west and south-west, Engie said.
Engie France Renewables general manager Gwenaelle Huet said: “By combining organic growth with external growth, the share of renewable energies in our energy mix is now close to 70%.
“After the acquisition of the Langa Group last June, this project portfolio reinforces our leadership for the future. We are pleased to welcome the Sameole teams within Engie; they will bring their expertise and knowledge of the territories.”
Sameole has a team of 20 developers divided into four areas based in Caen, Toulouse, Valence and Pace.
Engie has 1.9GW of onshore wind capacity in France and plans to develop 3GW of wind and 2.2GW of solar by 2021.
