Innogy Renewables UK has signed a multi-million pound contract with South Wales civil engineer Dawnus for the preparatory ground works for the developer’s 32.8MW Mynydd y Gwair wind farm.
The contract is for the initial works, including constructing the site entrance, access tracks and widening existing roads where needed.
Mynydd y Gwair, located nine miles north of Swansea, will employ around 20 people during this up to nine month period.
Clydach’s Dawnus expects to start these enabling works for the construction of the 16-turbine wind farm early next month.
Mynydd y Gwair project manager Tim James said: “We are delighted to be working with Dawnus and delivering on our commitments to work with local companies where possible.”
Dawnus regional director Matthew Morgan added: “Dawnus is delighted to have secured the first contract for Mynydd y Gwair and is looking forward to working closely with Innogy and other stakeholders to get the project off to a positive start through construction of the enabling works.”
