Michigan utility DTE Energy hopes to start construction this spring on a 50MW project in rural western Huron County.
The Pinnebog wind farm will consist of 30 GE 1.7MW 100 turbines with a 96-metre hub height, according to regulatory filings. The utility is working on permitting with the county and host townships.
DTE will own and operate the project, which will provide “a clean, reliable source of renewable energy for DTE customers, as well as jobs and associated revenues for local communities”, said the utility.
The turbines will be installed over 13,800 acres of private land in portions of Colfax, Oliver and Chandler townships. Upon completion, Pinnebog will be incorporated as an expansion of DTE’s 112MW Echo wind farm.
DTE expects Pinnebog to start commercial operation in late fall 2016.
