Spanish energy company Iberdrola has commissioned the the 23MW El Pradillo wind farm in Spain.
El Pradillo, which is located between the towns of Frescano, Borja and Agon, comprises six Siemens Gamesa 3.4-132 turbines and one Siemens Gamesa 2.1-114 machine.
Most of the components for the turbines were manufactured in Spain, in facilities in Zaragoza, Soria, Burgos, Navarra, Cantabria and Asturias, Iberdrola said.
Construction of the €26m project generated work for 75 local workers, the company added.
El Pradillo was jointly undertaken with Caja Rural de Navarra.
Iberdrola said the new wind farm reinforces its presence in Aragon, where the company already operates 344MW of wind and hydroelectric power.
The company plans to add 3GW of new wind and solar power in Spain by 2022 and up to 10GW by 2030.
These plans will create jobs for 20,000 people in the country, it said.
Overall in Spain, Iberdrola has over 5.8GW of wind capacity installed and 16GW of renewables.
