Estonian renewables outfit Enefit Green produced almost 148 gigawatt-hours of electricity during October, an increase of over 36% compared with the same period last year.
The growth was mainly supported by wind energy production growth at Estonian and Lithuanian wind farms, which in turn was afforded from good wind availability and good average recorded wind speeds, Enefit said.
The power company added that during October 2021 the average recorded wind speed was 8.0 metres a second (m/s) and 7.4 m/s in Estonian and Lithuanian wind parks respectively while in October 2020 it was 6.7 m/s and 6.8 m/s respectively.
Enefit’s wind farms in Estonia generated the highest amount of electricity during October which amounted to 93GWh and comprised an increase of 44.8% compared to the same period last year.
Wind farm’s in Latvia recorded the least electricity produced in October at 3.9GWh, constituting a 3.2% decrease in production compared to October last year.
Enefit also reported a 1.6% increase in heat energy production year-on-year to 55.4GWh in October 2021.
Pellet production decreased by 11.3% in the same year long period to 12,800 tons in October.
