Enercon toasts 564MW Turkish double

Enercon is expanding it presence in Portugal, with a new office in the city of Oporto.

The facility, which will also carry out servicing activities, is located in the Porto Office Park (POP) building, in Boavista, one of the most cosmopolitan and central areas of the city.

It will have capacity for a headcount of up to 150 and is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2022.

Enercon said it seeks to diversify its locations and get closer to a more varied labour market, while also investing in greater proximity to its main customers, partnerships with University Campuses and various entities related to the development of projects in the field of wind power.

The manufacturer began recruitment for the office in the summer of 2021 and it is expected that during 2022, a team comprising around 130 will be formed, mainly in the areas of finance, wind farm engineering, R&D, global procurement, IT, logistics, project management, sales and after sales.

Micha Strauss, regional head of Enercon Southern Europe & Latin America, said: “Enercon is one of the wind onshore pioneers and a market leader in Portugal, offering wind turbines produced in Portugal to the whole world for over 10 years.

“I am very proud of our team’s achievement and the decision to extend our engagement came very naturally and based on solid experiences.

“I look forward to welcoming new young talents to our team and thus achieving our ambitious goals.

“With this new investment in Portugal, Enercon is looking for the right profiles to maintain and develop its outstanding presence in the national and international market.

The company welcomes people who are motivated and inspired by the company’s motto ‘Energy for the World’.”

With 52% of wind power installed in Portugal, Enercon already employs around 1500 people at its facilities in the Praia Norte and Lanheses Business Park, in the district of Viana do Castelo as well as at service centres throughout the country.
