Enercon and Energiedienstleistungen Bals/SelzEnergie have signed a contract for the delivery and installation of 57 turbines with a total output of 330MW for wind farm projects in Southern Germany as well as two substations.
Construction works on the first projects in Lower Franconia (Sommerhausen, Altertheim and Neubrunn wind farms) will already start this year.
Overall, the implementation period for all wind farms extends until 2027.
The contract also includes the planning and construction of two transformer stations by Enercon.
In addition, Enercon will take care of the turbine maintenance over 20 years as part of its service.
Benjamin Seifert, Enercon, regional head for central and northern Europe, said: “We are delighted to make a significant progress in the energy transition in Germany together with our long-standing customer.
“The E-175 EP5, our new top model, once again proves itself to be a highly competitive turbine for medium to low wind sites.
“Combined with the E-138, we have designed wind farm layouts that promise an optimal energy yield.
“The fact that we can accelerate the grid connection by building the transformer stations completes our package.”
The Germany-based company group Bals/SelzEnergie has worked on the idea of the wind farms in part since 2012.
