Energiequelle toasts first power from Takanebacken

The 29MW Takanebacken wind farm in Finland has started producing first power.

Construction of the wind farm in Maalahti started in the summer of 2021 and the project’s Nordex N163/5.X turbines are now in the commissioning phase.

The testing of the turbines and systems have begun and the project is expected to be fully completed in autumn 2022.

“The construction of the wind farm has progressed as expected, and the project has not been delayed, even though the global situation has affected many construction projects,” said Atte Lohman, Project Development Director at Energiequelle, which is responsible for the construction of the wind farm.

“Wind power and renewable energy now have a big demand both in Europe and nationally in order to curb the rise in energy prices and achieve climate targets.

“Wind turbines are also the subject of competition between municipalities, as the tax revenues they generate secure the finances and services of many municipalities for future reasons,” said Nils Borstelmann, the company’s CEO.

In the Ostrobothnia region of Finland, the construction of Energiequelle’s next project is scheduled to start at the end of the year on the border between Kristinestad and Isojoki municipality in Mikonkeaa.

Previously, the company has built and commissioned five plants in Paltusmäki in the municipality of Pyhäjoki and will soon complete the Konttisuo wind farm, in the municipality of Soini.

Energiequelle is also building wind farms in Kalajoki and Hyrynsalmi.
