German developer Energiequelle has started construction of the almost 29MW Takanebacken wind farm in Finland.
Takanebacken is located in the municipality of Maalahti in Ostrobothnia, approximately 40km south of Vaasa, and will feature five Nordex N163-5.7MW turbines with hub heights of 148 metres.
Energiequelle has awarded Ab Tallqvist Infra the balance of plant contract for Takanebacken including roads, hardstands, foundations and electrical cabling.
The contractor for the substation is VEO.
The earthworks are to be followed by the foundations in the autumn, Energiequelle said.
The turbines are scheduled to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2022.
Takanebacken will produce around 100 gigawatt-hours a year, supplying around 18,000 households.
Energiequelle head of project development Atte Lohman said: “We are truly delighted to begin the construction works in Takanebacken.
“Energiequelle stepped into the project in 2016, when the project was at a very early stage.
“The positive attitude and support from the municipality of Maalahti, landowners and our cooperation partners have been extremely valuable throughout the entire development process.”
