Enova Value has acquired a German wind farm portfolio with around 100MW of repowering potential.
The company has acquired six onshore wind farms with a total capacity of 32MW from a Luxembourg investment fund. The projects are located in Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg and North Rhine-Westphalia.
As part of a comprehensive repowering, Enova said the sites will be made fit for the future. The company wants to replace a total of 17 old turbines from the manufacturers Vestas, Enercon and Senvion with up to 12 new, more powerful wind turbines.
The aim is to install a total capacity of around 100MW and to increase the annual wind yield in this context to over 250,000MWh – more than four times the previous capacity.
Enova’s head of investment and portfolio management René Meyer said: “These transactions are more than just an expansion of our repowering portfolio, which we will consistently develop over the next few years; they show how we work with institutional investors to create tailor-made solutions for the next phase of the life of assets.
“Now we are going full throttle to implement the repowering promptly with the right partners.”
To make a sustainable contribution to the regional energy supply, Enova is focusing specifically on increasing the efficiency and sustainability of old wind farms. In the first and second quarters of this year alone, the company expanded its repowering portfolio by over 400MW in this way.
The company said additional transactions will follow during the course of the year.
