Eon and Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners have taken the investment decision to build the 475MW Nysater wind farm in Sweden.
The €500m project will feature 114 Nordex turbines with individual output between 3.9MW and 4.4MW each and a tip heights up to 220 metres, depending on the location.
Construction is scheduled to start this year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
A fund advised by CSEIP will own 80% of the joint venture, while Eon will build and operate the wind farm under a long-term operation and maintenance agreement and retain a 20% stake in the project.
Nysater will supply electricity to an unnamed “global energy major” under a long-term power purchase agreement.
It is located in the wooded and hilly Vasternorrland district of central Sweden close to Sundsvall.
Eon Climate and Renewables chief executive Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath said: “It is part of our strategy to expand our position for onshore wind energy in Europe.
“Nysater means a significant expansion of our Scandinavian portfolio. The project also demonstrates our ability to successfully develop and commercializse large-scale projects worldwide.”
Law firm DLA Piper advised Eon and Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners on the project investment.
