ExxonMobil has launched a synthetic wind turbine grease that can protect pitch, yaw and generator bearings from extreme high and low temperatures.
The oil giant said the Mobil SHC Grease 102 WT can withstand temperatures as high as 120 degrees Celsius to as low as -50 degrees C.
It added that the new product enables better performance by optimising flow in central lubrication systems, reduces bearing torque, resists fretting wear, rust and corrosion and increases equipment uptime.
ExxonMobil Mobil SHC brand advisor Rainer Lange said: “In places like northern Asia, Scandinavia, the northern US and Canada, high wind conditions make protecting wind turbine equipment challenging.”
“With Mobil SHC Grease 102 WT, operators can keep turbines running in these extreme conditions, helping them decrease downtime and reduce maintenance costs.”
