Falck Renewables has brought its Brattmyrliden wind farm in Sweden into operation.
The project, located near the town of Trehörningsjö, in the municipality of Örnsköldsvik, brings a further 74.1MW of new wind capacity onstream
The wind farm is expected to generate up to 263.5 GWh of electricity per year and the plant benefits from a 10-year PPA with global aluminum packaging provider Ball Corporation, signed on 22 July 2020 and covering around 70% of the electricity produced by the wind farm.
Part of the proceeds generated by the plant are devoted to a community benefit scheme now active in the area of Trehörningsjö.
The scheme supports local projects in areas such as rural development, education, environment and recreation.
The projects are selected by local association Brattmyrlidens Intresseforening which autonomously runs the fund.
This approach is fully aligned with Falck Renewables’ mission of creating shared value with the local communities in the places where it operates.
