Gamesa has received type A certification for its G132-5.0MW turbine from DNV GL.
The Spanish manufacturer said the milestone marks the culmination of the certification process of its most powerful onshore wind turbine.
The G132 generates 3% more power than the G128-5.0MW machine, the company said.
The first G132 prototype was installed at the research and development facility in Alaiz, Navarra in April last year.
It is 186 metres tall and each of blade is 64.5 metres long.
