Gamesa has been certified by the state-owned Brazilian Economical and Social Development Bank (BNDES) to manufacture its G114 2MW and 2.1MW turbines in the country.
The units comply with the FINAME code, which stipulates a series of local manufacturing requirements for OEMs operating in Brazil.
The Gamesa turbines now qualify for access to the development bank’s lines of financing.
Gamesa will manufacture this new model in its nacelle factory, located in Camaçari in Bahia from 2016.
It is working with local suppliers for the manufacture of the towers and blades.
Gamesa has already certified the G97 2.0MW turbine under the BNDES requirements.
Gamesa managing director in Brazil Edgard Corrochano said: “This milestone is the result of a lot of hard work on our part and demonstrates Gamesa’s commitment to continuing to invest in the production of turbines tailored to the needs of the Brazilian market.”
