Gamesa has won an order to deliver 38 of its new G114-2.5MW turbines for two Chinese wind farms developed by state-owned company Zhognmin.
Half of the turbines will be installed at the 47.5MW Matoushan wind farm and another 19 at the 47.5MW Wangmushan facility, both of which located in the province of Fujian.
The order is the first for the new Gamesa turbines in China and the company’s first deal with wind farm developer Zhognmin, the Spanish manufacturer said.
The turbines are custom-designed to withstand the extreme winds typical of this coastal area, which is often hit by typhoons.
They are due for delivery in the second quarter of 2017 and the project is scheduled to start operating by the first quarter of 2018.
Gamesa has supplied almost 4GW in China to date.
