Gamesa has won two EPC contracts from Egypt’s New & Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) which includes the delivery and installation of 80 G80-2.0MW turbines.
The Spanish manufacturer said today it had won the 160MW order on two projects in the Gabbal El Zayt along the Red Sea coast.
The first contract is for the delivery and installation of 60 turbines on an unnamed project. It was awarded by NREA in a public tender with funding coming from the Spanish Government.
Delivery of the G80 units will begin in October with commissioning slated for the third quarter next year.
A further 20 turbines will be delivered to another unnamed NERA project where 200MW is already in operation.
The turbines will be delivered at the end of the year with commissioning pencilled in for early 2017. German bank KfW is financing the extension project.
Gamesa will also handle all civil and electrical engineering contracts on both projects.
