GE has obtained accreditation from the Brazilian Economical and Social Development Bank for its 3.15MW double fed induction wind generators.
The deal follows BNDES requirements for wind turbine components to be manufactured locally.
GE said it is the only supplier of generators of this power range compliant with local regulations.
The components are already being manufactured in GE Power Conversion’s factory in Campinas, São Paulo, with deliveries having started in September.
GE is also working towards accreditation for converters and inverters needed for the wind and solar indsutries.
GE Power Conversion Latin America commercial leader Sergio Zuquim said: “Wind power plays a strategic role in the country’s energy mix. In this regard, attracting new suppliers to work in the local wind market will become even more important to sustain the expansion of the wind industry in the many years to come.”
GE is also partnering with Solargise to supply and commission 150 1.5kV solar inverter technology for projects in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, MP and Karnataka.
GE will provide inverters in three batches with the delivery of the first 10 scheduled in December.
The remaining deliveries will be made throughout 2016 depending on individual project schedules.
GE will also provide training to local solar power plant operators and maintenance personnel to optimize inverters’ performance.
Solargise India executive chairman Raj Basu said: “With the positive professional relationship that has already been developed between us, we feel that this is a natural partnership between Solargise and GE.
“GE is and will remain an integral partner as, with our combined strengths, we intend to grow together in the Indian solar market.”
