German wind turbine services group SSC Wind has filed for insolvency, partly due to compatriot manufacturer Senvion’s financial difficulties.
A court in Delmenhorst last week appointed Tim Beyer of Schultze & Braun as SSC Wind’s provisional administrator, according to the law firm.
It said the move was due to delays and construction freezes at two large wind farms, as well as Senvion’s entry last month into self-administration leading to “a greater loss of claims” for SSC Wind.
“In this unfortunate combination, these events have weighed on the company’s liquidity so heavily that filing for bankruptcy was inevitable,” Beyer said.
The company’s around 100 employees were “insured for bankruptcy until June”, Schultze & Braun said.
SSC Wind chief executive Hinrich Eden said the company would do “everything necessary and possible in the coming weeks” to keep as many jobs intact as possible.
