Hamburg-based Buss Group has acquired fellow German player SSC Wind to extend the services it provides to the offshore wind industry.
The entity, which has roughly 90 staff, will operate under the name Buss Wind Services.
To date, Buss had focused on port logistics for offshore wind farms in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, both in its own offshore terminals in Eemshaven, the Netherlands (pictured), and Sassnitz and Stade, in Germany, as well as at third-party terminals.
Through the acquisition of SSC, Buss is now able to offer year-round repair services for blades for onshore wind and offshore wind.
In offshore wind, in addition to port logistics, management and planning services, as well as port pre-assembly, Buss offers installation and servicing for turbines and blades at sea.
In onshore wind Buss now offers installation and servicing of turbines and blades from a single source.
Buss Wind Services management includes Martin Schulz, Moritz Christern and Carsten Tegeler, who already hold managerial positions in the Buss Group.
Schulz said: “The acquisition of SSC Wind’s business is an important strategic step for us.
“Pure project business will therefore be supplemented by important service areas, which we can offer year-round, regardless of tenders for offshore wind farms.”
