The Green Investment Group has acquired the 43MW Hornamossen wind farm in Sweden from Nordic developer OX2. Terms were not disclosed.
Construction of the project in Jonkoping municipality is due to start next month and commercial operations are slated for the fourth quarter 2020.
Ten Siemens Gamesa 4.3MW turbines will feature at the wind farm, which will provide electricity to Swiss energy utility Axpo Nordic under a long-term power purchase agreement.
OX2 will stay on as asset manager during construction and operations after agreeing a “bespoke” engineering, procurement and construction contract with the Macquarie-owned GIG.
Ed Northam, head of the latter’s operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “I’m delighted to be partnering with OX2 to deliver GIG’s third PPA-backed onshore wind development in Sweden in under two years.
“As the popularity of PPAs grows across Europe, Sweden continues to lead the way and 2019 looks set to be another exceptional year for Swedish onshore wind. GIG will continue to seek new opportunities right across the Nordic region as we pursue our mission to accelerate the transition to a greener global economy.”
