Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) has made three senior executive appointments.
Ole Bigum Nielsen (pictured) joins GIG from Statkraft to lead the asset creation and management team.
Bigum Nielsen will also oversee GIG’s global offshore wind project delivery activities.
At Statkraft Bigum Nielsen was responsible for the delivery of the company’s development and construction projects.
The asset creation and management team supports projects throughout their lifecycle from development, into construction and operations.
David Viner, an IPCC lead author, will lead the green impact advisory team.
GIG’s green impact assessment methodology provides a template for “best practice green impact disclosure”.
The assessment is applied to all GIG investments and is also available for use by third parties.
Chris Morrison, former CEO of Vitol’s distributed generation business, will lead GIG’s work on distributed energy, and energy services and technologies, including storage and e-mobility in the European market.
At Vitol Morrison ran the company’s UK energy storage business and prior to that he led Centrica’s UK and Ireland distributed energy business.
GIG Europe head Edward Northam said: “These new appointments not only strengthen the depth of expertise at GIG, but also highlight the increasing breadth of activity that we are pursuing.
“From pioneering green impact reporting, to project development and the creation of commercial solutions for cutting edge technologies, GIG continues to evolve its offering to meet the needs of this fast-moving market.
“David, Chris and Ole bring a wealth of experience in their respective fields and their appointments will ensure GIG remains a driving force of the green transition.”
