Goldwind has awarded an A$8m contract to Tasmania manufacturer Crisp Brothers & Hayward to produce tower components for the 144MW Cattle Hill wind project it is developing in the state.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Launceston company will supply 20% of the wind farm’s tower components.
The A$300m wind farm, consisting of up to 48 turbines, will be fully operational by the end of this year.
Other subcontractors and suppliers working on the wind farm include Hazell Brothers and Gradco.
Tasmanian energy supplier Aurora Energy reached an agreement with Goldwind in 2017 to secure the wind farm’s construction.
Aurora Energy will be able to meet its obligations under national renewable energy legislation through the purchase of Tasmania-generated renewable energy certificates produced by the wind farm.
Aurora Energy chief executive Rebecca Kardos said: “This contract adds to Goldwind’s continued commitment to engaging local industry for the construction of the wind farm which, when operational, will enhance Tasmania’s already outstanding renewable energy credentials,” Mrs Kardos said.
