Wind capacity connected to the Greek grid reached 5695MW at the end of 2025, according to annual statistics from the Hellenic Wind Energy Association.
The figures show that 76 new turbines totalling 340MW were connected during the year, representing investments of more than €420m.
This marked a 6.4% increase compared with the end of 2024.
ELETAEN reported that installation activity returned to the decade average after a downturn in 2024.
It said this reflected the resilience of the industry despite administrative obstacles and bureaucracy.
At the end of 2025, more than 1.1GW of new wind farms were under construction or contracted, the vast majority expected online within 18 months.
A further 200MW selected in tenders had submitted guarantees but were not included in those categories.
As a result, ELETAEN stated that national wind capacity will exceed 6.5GW within the next 1.5 years.
Central Greece remains the leading region with 2466MW, followed by the Peloponnese with 790MW and Eastern Macedonia–Thrace with 535MW.
The top five investors are Terna Energy with 1034MW, More with 774MW, Iberdrola Rokas with 409MW, Principia with 368MW and PPC Renewables with 319MW.
Vestas has supplied 44% of national installed capacity, followed by Enercon with 25%, Siemens Gamesa with 15.8%, Nordex with 9.2% and GE Renewable Energy with 4.3%.
In 2025, new turbines were supplied by Nordex with 133MW, Vestas with 109.1MW, GE Renewables with 42MW, Enercon with 37.3MW, Goldwind with 14.8MW and Vensys with 1MW.
ELETAEN noted that wind farms totalling 1592MW were selected in tenders from 2018 to 2022, but only 852.4MW were operating by the end of 2025 due to bureaucratic delays.
It said these delays prevented more than 740MW of low-cost wind projects from delivering cheaper energy to consumers and the economy.
The largest hourly penetration of wind power in the interconnected system reached 97.2% on 28 April 2025.
Wind penetration exceeded 50% of demand for 616 hours, while combined wind and photovoltaic penetration topped 50% for 3335 hours.
Total hourly penetration of wind and photovoltaics reached or exceeded 100% of demand for 212 hours without system issues.
