Chinese wind turbine maker Sany has launched two 8MW onshore models designed for European wind conditions.
Sany launched the 7.8MW SI-17578 and the 8MW SI-18580 models at the start of WindEnergy Hamburg.
Both turbines (image is of Sany’s turbines at a wind farm in China) have been specifically designed for European wind conditions, said Sany.
“These large-megawatt turbines promise greater efficiency and increased profitability, tailored to the region’s energy needs and designed to meet industry standards,” stated Sany.
The Sany 7.8MW model has a 175-metre rotor diameter and the 8MW model 185 metres.
Both are IEC S rated and are variants of its existing 915 platform.
During the show TUV NORD will present the Design Evaluation Conformity Statement for SANY’s 140 metre hybrid tower, part of its 919 platform for 10MW turbines.
