Scottish ministers have given the green light to Buccleuch Energy’s 42MW Hopsrig wind farm in Dumfries and Galloway.
The company won an appeal against Dumfries and Galloway Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for the 12-turbine scheme near Langholm in August 2018.
The outcome of the appeal to the Scottish government concluded the wind farm would contribute to Scotland’s overarching objective of sustainable economic growth.
“We and our partners worked extremely hard to develop a proposal that can be accommodated within the landscape and aligned with the local authority’s vision for the area,” said Buccleuch chief executive John Glen.
“We now look forward to working closely with the local communities and other bodies to deliver significant economic benefit to the area as the wind farm progresses,” he added.
Development partner Muirhall Energy worked with Buccleuch to submit plans in March 2017 to build a 12-turbine project with 140m tips.
“Having partnered with Buccleuch on this exciting project, we are delighted to have now received consent,” said Muirhall senior development manager Alastair Yule.
