Husum 2025: GE secures Prokon German order

GE Vernova has signed an agreement with Prokon Regenerative Energien to repower a wind farm in Sachsen-Anhalt with eight 6MW turbines manufactured at its Salzbergen facility.

The deal, booked in the second quarter, will see the machines deployed in the Fleetmark community.

GE Vernova onshore wind chief commercial officer for international markets Gilan Sabatier said: “We are pleased to once again work with Prokon to support their strategy to grow the profitable generation of renewable power and advance Germany’s broader renewable energy goals.”

He added: “Repowering existing sites produces more power from current wind farms, strengthening their ability to meet local energy needs in a sustainable manner.”

Prokon board member for project development Katharina Beyer said: “Our experiences in Friedersdorf and Langenbach have shown that GE Vernova’s turbines operate reliably and deliver stable yields. On this basis, we have again chosen this turbine type for our Fleetmark project.”

She added: “For us, what matters is not only the technology itself but also a professional and constructive collaboration throughout the entire planning and construction process.”

GE Vernova said its 70,000-square-metre Salzbergen plant produces machine heads, drive trains and hubs for customers in Germany and beyond.

Germany installed about 3.2GW of onshore wind in 2024 and is targeting 80% renewables in its power mix by 2030.
