Bluestone Energy has secured planning permission for the 49500KW Middleton Farm solar farm in Renfrewshire, Scotland.
The developer said the scheme represents its largest solar project to date and marks a key step in its transition from developer to independent power producer.
The planning process was led by Cogeo Planning & Environmental Services, which undertook environmental assessments, community consultations and technical documentation to ensure the project met regulatory and ecological standards.
Bluestone’s land, grid and planning team, led by Dave Robertson, Sat Ubhi and Dan Sadler, secured land rights, grid connection and approvals.
Chief executive Freddy White said: “Securing planning permission for Middleton Farm is a proud moment for Bluestone Energy. It reflects the hard work and passion of our entire team-from land and planning to engineering and community engagement.”
He added: “This project is central to our strategy to transition from developer to IPP, and it sets a new benchmark for what we can achieve. Middleton Farm is our largest solar farm to date, and we look forward to reaching Final Investment Decision in 2026 and beginning construction shortly thereafter.”
Bluestone said it is in discussions with Glasgow and Renfrewshire councils on a power purchase agreement to deliver affordable electricity locally.
The company has more than 4GW of solar, battery and wind projects in development across the UK.
