An affiliate of NextEra Energy Resources has secured a purchase power agreement with Great River Energy for electricity from a 300MW wind farm to be built in North Dakota.
Construction on the Emmons-Logan project is slated to start in 2019 and to be completed by the end of that year.
It will feature 133 GE turbines in Emmons and Logan counties and will provide approximately $1.4m in taxes to local communities each year.
Great River Energy is a wholesale energy provider to 28 member distribution cooperatives across Minnesota.
