Nordex has secured a 43MW turbine order from German developer REA for the Erftstadt-Friesheim wind farm in Germany.
The agreement is for 12 turbines in total. Eight are from Nordex’s N117/3600 platform and four are from its N131/3600 platform, with a rated output of 3.6MW each.
Nordex will service the machines for a period of 20 years.
The wind farm is located in the area of the town of Erftstadt, a few kilometers from the rotating radio beacon of German air traffic control at the Nörvenich air base.
Based on the latest scientific findings, Deutsche Flugsicherung, together with the Federal Supervisory Office for Air Navigation Services (BAF), reviewed the specifications for the required distances between wind turbines and air traffic control and meteorological systems in August 2022, and decided to reduce them.
The change is intended to create further potential for areas for wind energy production in Germany.
“We are pleased that this project can now be realized and that, in addition, the trend of solid demand in our home market is continuing,” said vice president region central and managing director of Nordex Germany Karsten Brüggemann.
“As in the first few months of the year, Germany was also one of our strongest markets in the second quarter, with orders totalling around 200MW.”
Despite another slightly undersubscribed tender in May, the tender results for onshore wind in the first half of the year also show a positive trend: in February and May, contracts for almost 3GW was awarded.
“Nordex Group turbines account for around 30% of this, and it appears our customers were particularly convinced by the latest turbine models in our Delta4000 series,” said Brüggemann.
Further tenders will take place on 1 August and 1 November this year. Throughout the whole of 2022, 3295MW was awarded for onshore wind.
