Nordex has secured a 75MW repowering project in Lower Saxony.
The manufacturer will supply 11 N163/6.X turbines to the Badbergen-Dinklage wind farm which is scheduled for commissioning in H2 2025.
The repowering involves decommissioning and replacing 17 1.5MW Sudwind S70 turbines on 114.5-metre lattice towers with the 11 6.8MW Nordex turbines with a hub height of 164 metres.
Nordex had produced, supplied and installed the turbines under its former brand Sudwind 22 years ago.
Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Region Central of Nordex, said: “The new 6.8MW turbines are very efficient and offer a much higher annual yield than the old turbines.
“We are proud that we can make an important contribution to the energy transition with this repowering project, and especially that we can once again install turbines for the same operating group at this location after more than 20 years.”
The project was planned jointly by EFI Wind from Mulheim an der Ruhr and Alpha Wind from Osnabrück, as well as the Bad Essen-based company Energy-Farming.
The latter is also responsible for the commercial and technical operation of the wind farm.
The repowering project is part of 172MW of recent German turbine orders for Nordex.
