Nordex has booked sales of €637m in the first quarter of 2016, up over 28% from the almost €500m in the same period a year earlier.
The German turbine manufacturer attributed the increase to the “operating performance in the production and installation areas”.
Turbine production output stood at almost 574MW up from 462MW a year earlier with rotor blade production increasing by 141% to 159.
Installations stood at 490MW across nine markets during the first quarter which was more than double the 240MW installed a year earlier.
“The facility in Rostock is benefiting from the ramp-up of production and the implementation of more efficient production processes following the completion of the conversion and expansion programme and the commencement of volume production of the NR 65.5 rotor blade,” the company said.
The company also booked firm orders of €541m, which was down on the €644m order intake in the first quarter of 2015.
“The 16% decline is due to a special effect arising in the previous year. Thus, a large-scale contract was received in the 1st quarter of 2015 and is still being executed, as a result of which large parts of it are still assigned to the order backlog,” Nordex said.
The figures do not include Acciona Windpower which merged with Nordex on 1 April this year.
